Project Summary

RSDI in partnership with Europe-Georgia Institute and support from UNDP initiated the project "Development of the Social Audit Practice Among School Students of Kharagauli Municipality". The aim of the project was to promote social accountability in municipalities by introducing students to citizen engagement mechanisms. The project began with activities focused on encouraging schoolchildren to participate in self-government activities and understanding the importance of citizen involvement in municipal affairs. It also covers the theoretical aspects of citizens' participation in local self-government, including the principles of the municipality's work and social audit. The social audit, a key component of the project, involves students and their civic education teachers in monitoring the quality of municipal services through an innovative game called "Archevneti."

The civil audit analytical articles developed by the students contributed to the empowerment of students and enhanced the accountability of the municipality, ensuring better oversight of relevant issues and services.

Overall, the project envisioned fostering social accountability among students, promoting citizen engagement in municipal affairs, and contributing to the improvement of local self-government practices through the innovative civil audit mechanism.
